The Sigma 30mm f/1.4 EX DC is a lens I never warmed to, particularly when the SMCP-FA 31mm f/1.8 is in so many ways, a better lens.

ah - then I agree; the 30/1.4 is good walk-around lens for cheap, but the FA 31 Limited knocks it in the dirt every day of the week....

Now you have the Sigma 30 1.4 Art (with your Quattro), where would you place it within those two? In terms of bokeh and overall performance.

the Art lens has two things going for it vs the the older lens: HSM focusing and a closer MFD...

the problem with the Art lens is that the SD Quattro is a pure bastard to work with....

performance wise, however, I would rate it above the older 30/1.4 but still not even close to the FA 31Ltd....

Thanks. I'm likely not going to find out, as I don't know if I'll ever be able to buy the FA 31. But I'm quite happy with the Sigma Art - despite it being a bit larger and heavier than I'd like. It seems perfect for what it is, I'm not sure how the FA 31 could improve the images I get at that focal length...
