Here is my early compilation of the lenses that I have in Canada - I have acquired a lot more since then. Will take few snaps and upload the pictures of the lenses that I have here in VN later this week-end.

I actually have few pictures here on my FB page. See if you can access the link here.

jeez you are well on teh way to 50 50's then you can stop buying that FL

135 135's get's a ;little tougher, not to mention how hard it would be to get 85 85's given the crazy prices on 85 lenses in general

I have a lot of the 50mm, 55mm and 135mm. I'm now focusing my "energy" on the 85mm and 100/105mm and you're right, those are really expensive and hard to find.

when I moved back to canada after 2 years abroad, all we did was to declare, when entering canada, the total value of goods to follow.

this was the entire household contents in a container.

You fill out the forms and put everything into the container. camera also went, packed in a 2 cubic foot box lined with foam rubber, with cut out holes for all the lenses,

there is no big issue. What you do need to do however, is fill out a form for the shipper, with all the contents, including serial numbers and values (for insurance purposes)

That is how I got started with an inventory of my household goods, I had to, to ship it.
Container from VN to Montreal, Canada takes about 30-45 days and I can't be separated with my lenses for that long

I'm thinking of taking my most expensive lenses with me inside my carry-on and the rest inside a dedicated check-in baggage. Luckily 98% of my lenses are prime so they won't take much space.

I used to work as a custom officer for Canada Custom when I was a student. Since you left for such a long time, you should not have to pay duties and taxes on these goods. If I remember correctly, all items under 10 000 $ that you bought during your stay can be brought back tax free. On the other hand, for all previous posters who do not leave for such a long time, when you leave the country, you have to register your lens at the canadian custom. They will file a form on which they will list your lens (body, accessories and whetever you bring with you abroad), their description and their serial number. You must keep it with your equipement because it is the proof that these were bought in Canada and that taxes and duties were paid. Of course, laws might have changed since then and you should call Canada custom or go on their website to see what laws are now applicable. do take it for granted and then send me the bill when you come back if the rules have changed.

OK guys - got few minutes to take few snaps at my current lenses lot in VN.

I just had enough time to setup nicely for the Pentax/Takumar lenses. The remaining are all over the place as you can see in the second image

How is lens purchasing in Vietnam? I will be visiting Saigon in August and was wondering if prices are about average, or are they higher than they are in the States and Canada? Also where would one need to go to find Pentax lenses in Vietnem? Thank you for your assistance and time!

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, too. Will Canada let him in? Is it a national policy to provide refuge to the LBA-afflicted?
