Choosing a Lens

Looking for a REALLY wide angle lens for architecture and doing shoots in homes etc.
Any K Mount lens doesnt have to be pentax.
Some recommendations would be helpful and very much appreciated
My Max out would be at about $1300 Does that give me plenty of options?

DA14 for a prime, DA12-24 for a zoom. Several sigma options exist as do some manual focus third party lenses. Your price pain point will really determine what you get.

DA14 is very contrasty and has low distortions, also you get f2,8 for handheld photography. But it is better used for some action/report or close-up where the ability to focus 1inch from the front element can be used.
DA12-24 maybe better in your case...

I think you would ideally want the zoom indoors.

The IQ differences between them are pretty much negligible, but you will appreciate the flexibility.

I like the 15 for party-style photography, but sometimes you need to get tighter without moving, and other times you need to get wider but there's a wall in your way...

If you're going to shoot Buildings, make sure which ever WA lens you go for is Rectilinear.
ie, Straight lines will remain straight and will not be bent by the lens.

I use the Sigma 10-20 and it satisfies the majority of my needs.
I would like to try the DA14 as mainly use the Sigma from 14 - 18mm.

Below 14-16mm you start to get quite a bit of distortion which is often noticeable (and detract from the image) when shooting buildings in comparison to landscapes, where the distortion can really add some dynamics to the image.

Hope this helps.

Let Straight lines stay Straight!
