Asahi is reputed to have made some of the old "Tower" cameras sold by Sears in the '50s, but I have not heard of them making the lenses. In the era of the SLR, it seems that Ricoh and Mamiya were their main manufacturers.

IIRC Sears was one of the first to market Pentax SLRs in USA, with bodies labeled Sears and some lenses labeled Sears-Asahi. Sears also badged and sold Canon gear, so they were an equal-opportunity exploiter.
