Fisheyes

I found a Pentax SMC F-17-28 fisheye in a second hand shop recently that I can pick up for $290.00 or less. I am unable to find any info with regard to average pricing or quality of this lens. Anybody have any info on this one?

Thanks
Tony

The older version of the current 10-17 fisheye zoom.

Fantastic on FF or 35mm camera bodies. Not so great on anything else. It becomes an uninspiring 25-42mm wide angle lens on a 1.5x camera body.

Chako- thanks for the reply. I shot it a couple of times in the store with my K10 and wasn't that impressed either.

Your concern for my searching abilities is heartwarming. When I searched the lens data base for F series lenses, the widest lens listed was a 28mm 2.8. Perhaps, since you are so talented along these lines, you won't mind sharing how you were able to locate this when I couldn't find it in the data base.

It's an easy one AV82GOLF.

The creator of this site, MO made a really nice Pentax lens data base.

Click on Pentax Lens Review Database, while on the main forum page.

If you know the lens series just click on the tag. In your case A-Series

If it's a Zoom lens, like your choice is you'll have to click on SMC Pentax-A Zooms close to the top... left side.

Your choice is right at the top.

I review every Pentax Brand lens on there before I buy it.

Thanks...I knew about the rest of it. I just didn't notice this tab.

I didn't until I had read about it on another thread several months ago either.
So don't feel bad
