Question about weather proof lenses

Are weather proof lenses more resistant to fungus and dust than non WR? It seems like if the lens is sealed off from water it'd be more protected, although since spores and dust are so small it may make no difference at all. Any experience with it fungus in WR lenses?

Weather resistant, not weather proof. Moisture can still get into the lens.

And once it's in, it may be considerably harder for it to get out, leading to good growing conditions.

My understanding is that the WR lenses have extra seals, but since most are zoom, they will still suck in air to equalize the pressure inside and out.

I always suspected that once the moisture gets in, you'll kind of screwed because it's harder for the moisture to leave a WR lenses.

It would be kind of cool if we could add something to absorb the moisure inside the camera body, simular to the sticky to capture dust particles beneath the sensor.
