It actually looks like a lousy polishing job... no anodizing or plating involved...

No way to do it without taking the lens apart... and considering that it looks like a conversion, chances are that the paint was in rough shape, so the one who did the conversion, decided to make some bling-bling at same time...

Looks like these are all being sold on an indonesian photography website. Some search-fu turns them all up, including the 50 f/1.2 which is going for (drumroll please)

4.75 million
