[LBA] Oops, I just accidentally bought a lens

The Internet is so dangerous.

I buy-it-now'd this little beauty on a Swedish auction site:

An SMC Pentax-M 1:4 20mm. My rationalization for this purchase is this:

* My only real wide-angle option currently is the 18-55 kit lens and I don't like lugging that around just for the occasional 18mm shot
* I could use this as an ultra-wide on my film cameras to replace the FA J 18-35, it would be a lot sharper and more compact -- and it has an aperture ring, so it would work on manual cameras too
* It's so small and cute!
* It was only SEK 1500 (that's $235, and the dollar is very weak, so it's a really low price for this lens from what I gather) so if I decide I don't need it I could easily resell it and get my money back

Anyone have anything to say about this lens? How does it compare to, say, the 21mm DA Limited?

It's not an accident if you were out looking for it!
Enjoy the lens, it's a good one - especially on film.

I'm sure you made the seller very happy.

If I did not have the DA 21 Ltd, I'd watch for one of these, too. My SMC-M 28/2.0 and M 85/2.0 are superb.

Enjoy... (Please post some sample shots, too.)

I like it. I bought at considerably higher price but never regreted.

Very small and cute, and the IQ is very good too.
I encourage you to put it on a film body like the MX. You will end up with a very compact setup!

Do you want me to show you some sample film images with it..?
I don't have any comments about it compared to the DA 21mm, but I think user GeneV made some comments about both in the review section for this lens (for the M20/4).

cheers

I should have used that for an excuse when I had to tell the missus when I "Accidentally" bought a $10,000 Leica Nocilux 50mm f/0.95 ASPH.

That's a fantastic little lens, and you got a pretty good deal.

Yeah, I did that too. I REALLY couldn't afford it, but here I am.

Of course, then the frickin' car decides to break down in about four different ways at once...
