I'm very happy with them, for the price the quality is very good. I'd found that the 18-55 works better without a UV-type filter, even a good one, stuck on the front.

Some examples :

50-200mm : Flickr: Search kh1234567890's photostream

Flickr has some interesting notion of which shots are interesting
If you want to pixel-peep then the originals should be visible.

They seem to be water resistant - I've had a few soakings in a rainstorm with no ill effect. Then again, with a £100 lens you tend to worry less about killing it through abuse.

The pair together was about 300 bucks. Is there any manufacturer who offers quality kit weather sealed lenses at such a low price?
Same here, I sold my DA 55-300 in favor of the 50-200 also. Considering the size and weight of the 55-300 and the incremental difference in performance, it wasn't something I wanted in my bag. It takes more effort and skill to bring the potential out of the entry kit lenses, but they are quite capable in the right hands.
