FA77 or DA*50-135

This one for me is more of a hypothetical question, or question for far in the future as I am currently saving for a FA31.

But which lens is your favourite? Both are really quite different and both have high image quality.

The DA* has the advantage of weather sealing (would provide great piece of mind with my sealed k-5), Zoom, SDM (Im not worried about the failures). It does look like a whopper of a lens, but maybe it will make me look pro.

The FA is faster, smaller, metal...er, prime-er. Probably a bit nicer for portraits, but maybe the extra zoom of the DA would bokeh similarly to the FA?

As for my own personal photography style it is a mixture of landscapes, friends and travel (nepal this year, woot!)

Opinions? Personal experience?

I think there's quite a few thread on here regarding this comparison. You might want to do a search. As for my experience, I had both. The FA 77 is the clear winner in my book. The DA* is flexible but it's huge and slow. If you worry about weather condition for Nepal, then the weather sealing of the DA* might be enough for you to buy it instead.

Nice, that's the thread i was going to recommend you look at.

Anyhow, I ended up with a 50-135mm and is really loving it. I chose it because I liked the photo quality, the weather sealing, the range and fits me better at the moment. I will probably get the 77mm in the future, but for now, this is a great choice for me.

I have both and the 50-135 is just as sharp as the 77mm. The 50-135 is more versatile outside, but indoors the 77 is awesome in low light.

The 77 is awesome on film as well. Very nice focus for an AF lens, and the build and aperture ring match up nicely on classic film bodies.
