Tamron 70-300mm for Minolta AF compatible with KX ?

Hi everyone ,

I just wanted to make sure that "the Tamron Zoom Telephoto AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 LD Macro Autofocus Lens for Minolta Maxxum" is also compatible for the Pentax KX before I buy it on ebay or somewhere else.

I don't know much about lens yet but I know that pentax kx is compatible with AF lens right ?

It's just the "for Minolta Maxxum" that bother me.

Could someone tell me if it will be compatible or not ?

Thank you very much in advance for your answer and your help.

Wrong mount! What you're looking for is the Pentax K mount.

The Maxxum used a mount totally incompatible with Pentax cameras. Minolta's camera division was bought by Sony and that mount became the a (alpha) mount on Sony dSLR's, both half- and full-frame. If you have any of the Sony a-series cameras, this Maxxum lens will (likely) work fine. With your Kx, it's just another doorstop.

Some Sellers in Ebay and other places use the Manufactures description. In there they say the lens is available for Sony, Sigma, Canon, Nikon, Olympus and Pentax system.
What they fail to tell you is that every mount is different and you can not use one particular lens mount in another system.
The manufactures what is trying to say is that the lens is available in those mounts not that one lens can be mounted on those system regardless.

So you will want to buy a lens that it is specifically designed for Pentax mount.

There's a Pentax version in the forum marketplace right now--not mine, but it'll work on a K-x :
