35mm Autofocus:Affordable options?

HI,

I've just acquired a MZ7 (ZX7) which is coming with the 35-80mm kit lens which I understand isn't the best.....

I have good A and M series Pentax lenses and my DSLR DA lenses but I know very little about the autofocus lenses made for the later film cameras. So, what would be a good option, would prefer a zoom and it comes with a good flash so slower zooms aren't so much of an issue. Would consider suggestions of 3rd party lenses too (Sigma, Tamron etc).

Many of the F and FA series zooms are excellent lenses.

F: 24-50, 35-70, 35-105, 35-135, 70-210

FA: 20-35, 28-70/4, 28-105/4-5.6, 100-300/4.7-5.8

Lenses to avoid.

F: 28-80, 35-80

FA: 28-80/3.5-4.7, 28-80/3.5-5.6 (non-AL), 28-90, 80-200, 100-300/4.5-5.6

The F series had many more hits than misses, the FA series had a lot of mediocre to bad lenses.

tamron 17-35 f2.8-4.0

super sharp lens..comparable if not better with canon 16-35L and nikon 17-35/2.8

I can vouch for the Tamron 28-75 and the F 70-210.

The Pentax F 25-70 and the F 70-210 are perfect for film IMHO. They are very well constructed and get very good reviews.
