Hello

OK so i would like to have a macro set up with this items

1) Reversed 28mm Lens with a 49mm filter thread
2) Vivtiar at-1 Extension Tubes M42 Screw

on a Pentax K-x so how would i make the two items work for me i know i well need
Reverse Adapter for mounting the Lens and the extension tube but what im
thinking is how would the M42 Tube work if there only for M42 screw thread?

I see 3 possibilities:

1) lens is K mount: sell these tubes, buy K mount extension tubes

2) lens is M42 screwmount: buy the Pentax M42/K mount adapter, it fits in between your camera body and the first item screwed into it (whether that is simply the lens or an extension tube then the lens)

3) lens is neither K mount nor M42 screwmount: buy the Pentax M42/K mount adapter, it fits between your camera body and the extension tube. Also buy an M42 49mm reverse adapter, fit it to the end of the extension tube, and screw your lens into it by the front filter thread.

You will need a M42 to K mount adapter. A cheap one (flange type) from evil bay will work just fine for any extension tube macro or your reverse M42 adapter. But if you are planning to use your M42 lenses with K-x as a regular lens, most people like an original pentax M42 to K adapter.

not all of the cheap ones allow you to reach infinity focus when you're using just the lens -- it doesn't matter if you plan to always use an extension tube, but maybe one day you would like to see what your lens can do for non-macro subjects

also, some of the cheap ones require tools to get them in and out of the camera body -- the one made by Pentax doesn't
