Pentax SMC FA 1:2.8 50mm Macro

I want to use this lens on my K10D unfortunately when I purchased it for my MZ-S I didn't get a lens hood. I tried ordering the RH-RA52 hood made for this lens and have learned to find out that Pentax doesn't make it anymore . Any suggestions on a lens hood that can replace the RH-RA52?

Any help is appreciated.

Scott

Hi Scott,

I don't know where you could get a hood for this macro, but from my experience with it, no hood is needed, unless, of course, you're shooting in extreme situations.

Here's a 'Cadillac' lens hood for a 49mm filter thread.
49ES ALUMINUM TELE-HOOD #960 - Schneider Optics
I assume they will have one for the thread size you have...
You might also just try using your hand, or there's a website that has cardboard cut-out ones.

The FA 50mm f/2.8 Macro uses a 52mm filter thread. The front element is recessed and doesn't really nneed a hood. If you do need one, the hood for the 50mm f/1.2 which is 52mm in diameter will work fine.
