FA43 cap that goes on without hood

Hey Everyone!

I'd like to put a lens cap on the FA43 without the hood. Does anyone use a cap on the FA43 without the hood? And if yes, where did you buy it?

Thank you for your help!

Armanius

Use a hood!

But, yeah, that's not hard. If you were standing here, I could hand you one.

Thanks for the info. I'll look for a 49mm cap. I really hate the hood on the FA43. I know this is a silly reason, but the hood just makes the FA43 look ugly!

This is the best 49mm lens cap I found. It is better than many caps costing much more.

This is it on a DA15. I applied two narrow strips of self-adhesive sandpaper to the center pinch to make it less slippery:

That looks really good, i hate the DA15 screw in cap, it takes too much time to remove and put back on.

No hood?

Do you shoot without the hood? If so, you are asking for flare and reduced contrast. Why would you want less than the best IQ from such a superb piece of glass? In addition, the hood provides much needed protection for the front element of the lens, which is in a very shallow well and, thus, is quite exposed. The 43 Limited, even with hood, is so small that I can see no reason ever to remove it. I am expecting delivery of one of these babies this week, and I plan to leave the hood affixed permanently, as I do with all of my Limiteds.

I Use SOldBear's technique of 2 stop down rings and a small cap or a film cover. This serves as a compact hood and lens protector all at once. If you check out his posts you will find better instructions.

Just keep the hood on and use a cheap 52 mm snap on cap. works great.

Yeah. Like this:
I cannot see how this setup is superior to the standard hood and cap, and it is ugly to boot. But if it makes you happy, then by all means use it. Is it the slide-on cap on the 43 that some people dislike? The 77 Limited has one also, and mine has never slipped off.

That above is way too much plastic for my liking.
I dont have a problem with the alloy standard slip-on caps, they are easy to install and remove very quickly and have never had one fall off, but i dont the DA15's screw on cap.
