Borrowlenses.com carrying Pentax rentals April 4th!!!

Finally, another website is going to carry Pentax! I'm stoked! It starts April 4th and they probably will have a great selection!

Excellent! Hopefully a sign that Pentax is having some broader appeal.

Yeah I tweeted at them after they followed me on twitter, and asked if they were going to do as such...they said it was coming soon. So I am glad they weren't just blowing sunshine up my backside.

A good way to try out a lens before spending a lot of money. Their rates aren't cheap exactly, but certainly cheaper than making a full purchase and then regretting it.

I never even knew or thought about lens rental websites. This is cool! Thanks for posting.

now if one of the Canadian guys would just get on board. it would be nice to rent a lens now and again without having to rent the Canon body to use it

loco... www.cameralensrentals.com is the other main one and they've had Pentax lenses (and cameras) from Day 1.

p.s. there is a parallel discussion of this in https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-dslr-discussion/130608-another-pot...enses-com.html

Yep, those guys are great...good customer service...used them several times. I did some testing a while back with the Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 EX HSM and the DA* 16-50 that I rented from them. All the same, I think I'll compare prices with this new company and see what's up.

Just did a quick scan of borrowlenses.com and their prices overall were about 10% or so higher than cameralensrentals.com....but it depended on the lens as well. FA 50mm f/1.4 seemed to be the exception.

In any case, their lens classifications seem to be a bit screwy....under "Standard" lenses, they've got the FA 50mm, the DA* 200mm f/2.8 and the DA 12-24mm f/4! (Would the REAL standard lens please stand up!). Cameralensrental.com has by far the better selection but maybe that will change over time.

Camera Lens Rentals are great people. And the interesting thing is that all the lenses are for sale. If you just can't be without the lens they'll cut you a decent deal.

For example someone bought the 50mm 1.4 that I was supposed to rent, and I got a call from, I think it was Ilene, and she said that I would be getting two packages, one from them with the DA* 16-50 and one drop-shipped from B&H. So I got a brand new 50 from them. Very communicative and the process was painless. It was a great way to try out prime photography and get hooked.

I had a DA*16-50 and an FA 50mm 1.4, and two 540 flashes for a week for a little over $150 shipped.

After my last experience with CameraLensRentals.com, I think I'll be sticking with them. They recalibrate and clean each lens every 10th time it's rented, and their customer service is bar none. One of their reps called me from her home after work hours to help me get a lens I needed when it was listed as out of stock and they had none in their inventory. Her name was Illene as well (I get the feeling it's a relatively small operation).

As a note more on topic with this thread, CameraLensRentals.com is also expanding their lineup "very soon" as I was told by the sales rep. She said they would have a much much larger selection because they were seeing a lot of demand for their current lineup of lenses. Maybe some Ltds are on the way?

Yeah I got that same impression from Ilene, and she told me if you want to try a lens they don't have, they will consider buying it and renting it to you. Pretty cool in my book.

we are crying out for something like this in australia. Canikon stuff can be rented, but nothing else.

I would love to rent a K-5 / 150-500 sigma combo for a weekend of AFL sports shooting before buying same.
