flare-resistent wide angle lens needed

Hi
I have the Sigma miniwide 28mm f2,8 (old version) and love the angle of view, could use a little more sometimes though, but in sunlight it just shows the ugliest flare, and all contrast is lost.

I need more resistance than a hood alone can provide

So I need a cheap (max $100 approx.) wideangle with good flareresistence (like the famed 15 ltd.)

So what would you suggest? and if you have pics to backup your choices, I would be delighted.

some ex of the flare both with and without the sun in the frame both stopped down to f11 or smaller

Heiberg,

My suggestion would've been the DA 18-55, but I see you have one already. Have you tried using a deeper hood on your Sigma?

If you are willing to look at manual focus, and especially if you already have the adptall, the Tamron 24/2.5 is very flare resistant. Another good one in manual focus is the SMC-A 28/2.8. Probably the Tamron 28 as well.

In autofocus, I don't have a clue!

Thanks

Autofocus isn't really important, but being a prime is.

I don't own anything adaptall, but that shouldn't prevent me from the tamron 24, sounds interesting.

What I forgot to mention, is that size matters, so a deep hood would be a little annoying.

I own an old vivitar 28/2, and have found that flare resistance is quite decent. It's not like the da15, which is darn near flare proof, but it's quite a bit better than the samples you posted in my experience. Only problem with the vivi 28s is that there are many different versions, check out robin parmar's bestiary - I have the A01 version fwiw...

Yes, those wide Sigma's do tend to flare easily (I have the 24mm, and its only real drawback it flare if you aren't careful). If you want a little wider lens, you'd be looking at the 24mm focal length, and I can't really think of any third party lenses noted for their excellent flare resistance in this FL. I think the Pentax-K 24mm f2.8 is supposed to be pretty good against flare, certainly better than the Sigma equivalent. For a 28mm lens, I can highly recommend the Pentax-M 28mm f3.5--very sharp, contrasty, and quite flare resistant. You can easily get one for under a hundred shipped.

This lens flares pretty badly IMHO.

Great lens but I think the kit lens is a better performer as far as flares go.

Flare is a problem with my DA 18-55. Trying to find a lens with the flare properties of a DA 15 for under $100 won't be easy. Actually, I don't think there are many lenses at all that handle flare like a DA 15.
