What I got at a garage sale for $85

All say Super-Takumar Asahi Petax:

35 3.5
50 1.4
55 1.8
28 3.5
135 3.5
200 4

Did I do good? They all screw on so I don't know how to make them work with my k-x but I took a chance. According to the lens database I did real good. What do you think? I skipped on the old bodies. I didn't know if they were worth anything.

You did well you will need an m42 adaptor i would buy the original pentax worth the extra couple of bucks
Pretty much any one of these lenses could recoupe your investment
Id keep them all myself

I read to make sure I get the original pentax like you said. Do you know where I can get an original pentax one? Anyone have a link so I don't get the wrong thing? I saw several but they got bad reviews so they must not have been original.

The 50 1.4 may have yellowed if it isn't the 8-element version. There are lots of threads here about how to identify what version it is and what to do if it is yellowed. If it is the 8-element it's worth $85 by itself. Also, I hate you.

No... You did very poorly. But you're lucky I happen to *need* exactly those lenses for which, in my madness, I'd be willing to give you a bit more than you paid for them.

You did substantially better even than the lens database indicates, because those prices are all way out of date. The 50/1.4 alone can easily go for 150 now, and a couple of the others are worth more than you paid for the whole lot.

Excellent deal!

[edit] Actually it seems the 50s have gone back down in price again to something more sane, but you still did very very well.

I can't tell if it is yellowed or not. When I look at the grass with it it looks a little yellow, other colors or on white or gravel, no. I guess I'll find out later if it shows up in a picture.

One "secret" I have found out about garage sales and camera equipment. You have to ask them if they have old camera equipment. They forget to put that old film stuff out. Today I asked and the man looked surprised and said, "Yes I do." He opened up a drawer full of the lenses. He wanted lots more because he wanted to sell the bodies. But I don't know if they are worth anything or not so I skipped them and offered $85 for the lenses (and one 2x teleconverter). He said no and I said, "Okay, I understand and started to walk off. He said, "Wait...." and the rest is history.

So he was under the misconception that film bodies are actually worth something. The lenses are much more valuable.

Some came with cameras attached. Some of the prices made no sense, however I did not look at how they were described or their condition (however one for the lowest price was described as "mint").. Regardless, $85 for the lot was a very good acquisition.

Get the official adapter, yeah. You CAN use one of the general brands, but they really aren't as good (I was shocked by how much nicer the real one is after 5 or 6 months with the knockoffs).

Yes, that is the "original". I finally ordered one a couple of months ago from this very page. Took about a week or so to come, and it is the "original" Pentax. It works very well...

.... actually, I think that you made quite a haul. I have the 55mm/f1.8 from my old Spotmatic II. I like it very much. Actually - [due to some other things I am doing today] I like the old Spotmatic Pentaprism's split prism viewfinder probably about 100x better than the current K20's viewfinder, right now. I guess that there is a Katzeye in my future - but that is another post.

Congratulations!!! Hopefully the gentleman whom you purchased these gems from does not read or run across this thread....
