sigma 50mm to fa 43mm

Hi, I actually have the sigma 50mm 1.4 witch is a lens I love, but lately I started to do less and less studio to start doing street photography and I am finding my beloved 50mm way too big.

I was wondering if switching it for a 43mm 1.9 would be a good move, does someone know how they compare in term of sharpness and rendition

I'm sure 43 outperforms sigma in terms of sharpness since wide open (depends on the copy though), as well as tonal reproduction. The colors are superior on limited without any doubt. At least it doesn't have sigma's yellow cast.

I haven't shot the Sigma but from what I've gathered it's not as popular as 30/1.4. As you say, it's big and heavy. On the other side it's practically 1 stop faster from 43ltd and I believe the HSM is faster in AF than Pentax screw. But many users point out onion ring OOF.
43 on the other side is very small, decently fast, terrific contrast sharp from wide open. OOF is bit of a hit and miss and depends a lot on the background. Generaly speaking though, if you are looking at something smaller in similar focal range, it doesn't really get better than 43ltd

Will you keep the 50mm lens? In the affirmative, 43mm and 50 mm are very close and you should consider a lens with focal length around 30-35mm to complement the 50mm f1.4.

Food for thought...

if FOV is not an issue for you with the 50mm, then the 43mm would be fine. I'm not sure how close and how wide you want to consider something for street photography, but a 35mm would give you the flexibility at the wide side wth up close shots. but anyways, a 43mm will do.
