you can't modify what you don't have. That is true in sound and picture. That doesn't mean that you can't get an "artistic" result, but you have lost something in the a/d translation. Just depends on what you're willing to lose.

as for what is "right", that is always up for argument. While there are some objective ways to measure things, the reality is that eventually a human has to interact with it, not a machine. So it doesn't matter if the machine says that everything is "correct" - it matters what the individual thinks/feels. One person's correct is another person's yuck.

I tend not to do much pp, but that's just me. I'm the same way when I record music. If it is "there" then I want it to come out. I'm not a big fan of "we'll fix it in post." I'm not a purist or a luddite...maybe just lazy. I see some beautiful work that obviously has been photoshopped to the gills. But it invariably seems (to me) to let the original scene speak through. I've seen other pretty stuff that was obviously photoshopped to the gills and I tune out because I'm not feelin' it. Neither is right or wrong for everyone, only for me.

There are always shots that are winners but fail all the technical criteria of sharpness, colour, contrast or bokeh quality. These lenses all have their moments when they shine that no words could be used to describe why they are excellant photos.

Fa 77 ltd to me is smaller, compact and easier to use. I love its f2.2 aperture and consistent performance with image rendering (just tack too slow AF).

My SMC Pentax 85/1.8 lens was very good but not great.

I'm with 'nostatic'.
I just don't want to pp all of my pics.
Haven't done this with film - don't want it right now.
The only thing: Cropping.

- and again: You cannot get thru pp what you haven't caught with your equipment.
You may tweak the colours in photoshop - but I have doubt that you will get the same as in reality.

If you don't want the look of reality but an artificial look of the world: Maybe....

@dpreview
If you are banned: Don't bother.
I have been banned some time ago just because of a discussion regarding a soccer-match in the world championship 2006... I just disagreed with another member regarding the questions of 'fouls' and 'goals' .
I'm allowed again but:
What a system of banning dpreview has....
