Pentax DA 18-135mm

Have a K10D and just purchased Pentax DA 18-135mm. The AF mode doesn't seem to work. Anyone have suggestions as to why?

Update your camera.

I'll quote Adam from another thread.

Update your K10D to firmware version 1.3

Download

  1. Unzip the file
  2. Copy the .bin to the root of a formatted SD card
  3. Insert the card into your camera and ensure it is fully charged
  4. Turn the camera power on while pressing the Menu button
  5. Select "Yes" when prompted on the screen
  6. Once the screen displays "Complete", you can turn off your camera

And what do you think now to the 18-135 WR? I think it takes quite reasonable pictures with nice Bokeh. I am not so sure about the very small focus ring. Zoom one is very, very smooth in operation, but the focus ring seems to turn around endlessly if I manually turn it. Is that normal I wonder?

Aperture on the Mac, doesn't yet recognise the lens in the EXIF, although it does recognize the 50-200 WR.

The focus ring is designed that way. If you turn it gently you will feel where the focus ends, but its still possible to turn the ring further, and its the same as the DA* lenses.

Maybe next aperture update will recognise the lens

Thanks. I will reread the review by Adam. As I have not touched a DA* yet, I was not aware that the quick-focus works that way - different from the Limited Pancakes which I also have.
