Typically now at shows i shoot with either my MF primes (ie fast 50 or 100 2.8) or use a24-70 2.8 sigma (which is a monster) the 50 for low light the 24-70 for ease of shooting. for a lot of clubs 2.8 just wasn't fast enough on the K10, even on the K7 it's a push sometimes. the 14 is really useful at close quarters, some shows i've had it right in the performers face because i was being pushed up onto the stage by the crowd. it's big, but i don't think the 15 f4.0 is fast enough the 21 at 3.2 will even be short on light. (oh for a k5 where this is less of an issue). build wise the 14 is durable it's seen some pretty crazy environments and survived quite well (good thing my cameras are wr sometimes)
But do you think the 21mm will manage with a fast shutter speed and high ISO in a dim club like Mocambo or Rancho Relaxo ? I mean, it should be able to handle it as the jump from 2.8 to 3.2 isn't that huge. Tell me if I'm wrong, I'm pretty new to this.

maybe not Rancho, it's pretty dim . depends on the iso. it's only a third stop difference so i imagine it will be ok (the kx has better high iso than my k10 did and these shots were K10 @1600

here's one
kx with the DA14 at the Elmo last year iso 6400

Eddie, you are the ambassador for the 14mm F2.8 on this forum!!!
I managed to track down a person that wants to sell the pentax DA14mm second hand, will try and see how it goes with the K-5 on Saturday, and it just might do rather than the 15ltd or 12-24, hopefully for half the price as well... Will also try the 21mm Ltd as well, so these two lenses might have to do.

I really brought it up initially because it seems to be the orphan lens. I'm pretty certain the DA 15 is a wonderful lens and it is smaller, but it's also slower and has less elements. Never tried the 12-24 seriously so no opinion on it other than it's just slightly bigger than the da14 but also slower (though a nice zoom range) I've been considering the new Sigma 12-24 WR that is coming as a travel lens but it looks like it will be pricey (mind you in Canada the Pentax is $1100)

The relative unpopularity of the DA14 means the used market has some good deals, so I'd never sell mine on (unless a new SDM WR DA* version arrived)
