Dumb question... Is "P-mount" the same as M42?

Looking at a bellows that's "P-Mount". (not P-K, but "P"-mount.) I was thinking that P-mount was another term for standard M42 mount. Is that right?

Cheers,
Bobbo :-)

Never heard it called that, but who knows. If the mount is threaded instead of some form of bayonet then it most likely is M42 screw mount. There are other screw mounts (M37, M39) but most likely it is M42. Of course the easy way to tell is to measure it.

You could also try an M42 lens to see if it fits if you have one.

Never heard of it, so I don't think so. Whoever used that designation must just be saying that it's a Pentax lens.

I believe back in the 70s ( God, I'm dating myself ) the standard pentax mount was called P-mount. Would be the m42

A quick Google search results indicate the P-mount is the M42 screw mount.

Yes, P-mount is Praktica-Pentax M42 mount. I've seen that on various T2 and other universal lens adapters, not so much on lenses themselves.
