I found this quote in an earlier post in this forum

The lens' design was based on its FA predecessor; hence it will cover the entire film plane (an FF lens, if you will). The size is purely the merit of the engineer.
But, Looking at the lens at B&H, they have the following disclaimer

Important Notice!

Not compatible with "full-frame" (35mm size) cameras
Can someone who has tried the lens on a FF camera settle the issue? Thanks!

It covers the APS-H format (1.3x crop) but isn't FF.

My understanding is that it is a full frame lens -- basically an FA 200mm f2.8 in different clothes. Currently, Pentax doesn't market a full frame camera, so clearly they are not going to say anything about it.

(although whether the hood is full frame compatible is beyond me)

I wonder why not? They call their new macro "DFA 100mm WR macro". Is it just the hood on the 200mm? Many customers will only buy Full Frame lenses whether they come out with a digital full frame or not. Marketing it as DFA*200mm would only broaden the appeal if it covers full frame.

It is exact the same optic system than the old FA*200.
Only new coating and the big different is the new ED Glas in the system.
also new glas types.

Sorry, pretty sure you're wrong on this.
It works with more recent Pentax 35mm AF film cameras without vignetting.
