I'm not familiar with some of the terms for lenses so i was wondering what exactly does k mount mean. Does it refer to a manual exposure lens or a manual focus lens? Or is it how the lens fits on the camera like bayonet style? please excuse my ignorance. i'm still learning. thanks.

In simple terms, the K originates with the initial series of cameras from pentax, where a bayonete mount was ised. this was the K series and included:

K1000, KX, KM, K2 and K2DMD.

Pentax then released the M series with the MX, ME, ME Super......

K-mount is just the name of Pentax's bayonet-style lens mount. It's just a name for a standard like "Philips head." You could say "Pentax bayonet mount" and people will still understand you.

You need to manually adjust the apature, it can't be done via the camera body, AND you need to meter in manual mode. AV mode will be shot wide open

The K mount on your K110D does work with auto aperture and autofocus. Just see how the kit lens operates.
If you decide to use a lens that has no autofocus or auto aperture then these functions won't work off course.

Just to be clear, a K mount does not have automatic apature hence it can't work on any DSLR.

The kit lens is a KAF* mount, The KA mount was the first lens with automatic apature,

The K mount must be used in aither Apature priority mode where the camera will shoot at maximum apature and adjust shutter to make exposure correct, or in manual mode, where you basically set the shutter speed manually for the apature you have set, after metering in stopped down mode

You're technically correct, but it seems the term "K-mount" is used in general for every variant Pentax ever made, hence the confusion.
