First post here....a Tokina question

Hello everyone....my first post

I have a Tokina 90/2.5 SP in a Nikon mount. (I use it with my m4/3 cameras with an adapter). The Tokina was also available in an Adaptall-2 mount.

I recently purchased a Pentax K-5. Apparently there are third-party adapters for mounting Adaptall-2 lenses on a Pentax mount.

Do you know of anyone that has ever converted the Tokina Nikon mount to Adaptall-2?

Thanks.....R

Adaptall mounts (The brand is Tamron, and in those days they made *everything* in Adaptall mounts, AFAIK: and as far as I know, Tokina did *not,* cause that was a proprietary Tamron thing. Actually, there was a *Tamron* SP series, is that what you have?)

If you have an Adaptall lens, you can get the appropriate Adaptall mount for Pentax and it'll fit right up. That's why they called em 'Adaptalls.' If the lens is made with its own Nikon mount, Adaptalls of any kind won't help you. Adaptall lenses were made to *exchange* mounts, not add them onto another. (ie, you'd take *off* the Nikon-Adaptall mount, get a Pentax-Adaptall mount, and put that on there. Off and running. See? )

(Incidentally, btw, I *believe* the Tokina is a valuable lens in any mount: if that's what you have, it probably wouldn't be too hard to work a trade. )

Oh, and where's my manners. Welcome!

Thanks RML....a friend has the same lens in the Adaptall mount and with the Tamron Adaptall converter mounts it on his Minolta.

I was thinking that perhaps there was a camera specialist out there that could gut a Tamron lens and use that mount to replace the Nikon mount on my Tokina.....AND with an adapter mount it on my K-5. A pipedream, it looks like.

The lens is so beautiful that I hate to let it languish.....

Thanks.....R

Well, if I'm right in my guess about what lens that Tokina is, there's plenty of Nikonians that would like it, I'm sure, and a Pentax-mount version to be had.

It's actually not impossible to convert them, either, with a bit of expertise, but probably you may as well just do a little commerce. Anyway, give us a snap of it, I never heard of any other company making an Adaptall lens, but you never know.

Which generation it is? If it's pre AI you can use it with some limitations on K mount.

If only I knew...
Sorry but I'm not big on other than Pentax glass. But I'm sure there are folks to give you guidelines on that. All I know is that pre AI lenses fill fit K mount. They will be upside down and with green button metering but they will work. There was a thread on it somewhere some time ago. Try to search.
