Well... when you get older (*sigh) and your joints begin to ache a bit more than they once did... dragging around a bag full of primes can put a real damper on your desire to spend time at a hobby you love. In fact, it lead me a few years back to sell (and give away) my system. I was finished with it for good. Thousands of dollars worth of equipment and I couldn't stand lugging it around anymore. For almost seventeen years I put photography behind me and moved on in others directions until my wife (second wife... the first resented my hobby) developed an interest in digital photography. After a few prosumer models, we purchased two k10d's along with the kit lens and a very, very comfortable Tamrac strap and feather-light Lowe Pro bag. I could not be happier. I intend to make another zoom purchase (the 18-250mm) when it becomes available and that will be the one lens with which I travel. My wife, I suspect, will follow suit. We travel a lot and I do not want to be weighted down with a pile of glass. Just another perspective and I recognize that our circumstances are unique to us and not to others.

All the best.
