DA* 50-135 vs 60-250: focus breathing?

So I have been reading up on how the DA* 60-250 has a fair amount of "focus breathing" when not focused at infinity, but can't find any exact numbers. The only reason for me to stick to the 60-250 and not the 50-135 is the extra focal length. I am mostly shooting close up wildlife with the lens, I would say anywhere from 15-80 feet away. Does the 50-135 have much less focus breathing? I guess what I am getting at is: is there less of a difference in focal length between these two lenses when at their longest FL than one would think based on the numbers if I am shooting subjects at 20, 30, and 40 feet a lot rather than birds 200 feet away??

Thanks for any advice, would be great to hear some numbers on the actual effective focal lengths in regard to focus breathing on these lenses.

cheers -LE

At your shooting range, you should not see much focus breathing, especially pass 20ft. At miminal focus distance, focus breathing is at it's worst, but by the time focus distance reachs 15ft, focus breathing is generally no longer significant.

You may want to google this topic on Nikon's 70-200 VR II. There are a lot of focus breathing information on that lens, including test shots and lab numbers.

Anyway, I would not bother using 50-135 beyond 6ft focus distance, when extra focal length is needed.

Wheatfield, it is my understanding this is an issue with internal focus zooms, I don't this is an issue with say DA* 300 or DA* 200, and I have read the 60-250 does it especially much.
