Definitely #1. When I look at #2 I can't decide whether it's an abstract portrait or if the focus is off. Blurring in portraits is ok but not for the entire image, maybe just the background or a portion of the portrait.

I think the focus is off, the lens is astigmatic, and so am I, we don't make a good manual focusing pair. It does say in the lens manual to not rely on the AF beep.

I thought I would take a crack at the photoshopping...

Looks ok, but not great.

I'm really shocked the DA 70 gave you bokeh like that. I never experienced that in the month or so I played with it!

#2 looks terrible frankly.

#1 looks better but the bokeh is very harsh. Tha bokeh is not typical for that lens.

I see what looks like a pentagon or hexagon artifact in the OFF lights, can't be 9 blades, it should have almost round artifacts
