Jupiter 9 from Ukrain in 7 days

I ordered this 1971 Jupiter 9 on 14th April and it arrived today. As described, it is in excellent condition cosmetically, but optically is it acceptable? (I see a lot of post about quality control issue of these lenses). Please be the judge.:ugh:

All are wide open, iso200, 1/100, no pp, 40% reduced size.

Hi,
I can not judge about the lens, but really like these pictures. Really great felling of volume.

Hi

I Got one myself and love it. yes it's a little soft wide open, but yours seems to be fine. At f/2 the depth of field is minimal, and your pictures is sharp enough where it matters (the eyes). And the bokeh is wonderful!!

I like the framing of #3 - great shot!

I keep hearing about QC issues on Russian lenses, but so far, I haven't seen a Russian lens that I felt doesn't work as intended.

Your copy of the Jupiter has similar softness to mine, but as you can see, it's a fine lens for portraits. I believe that the softness is intentional, but I don't understand why some samples lack it while others have it.

I like your shots, so I would say you got a great lens. I'll look forward to more samples on your flickr stream.

lucky you. I decided towards the Takumar 85mm 1.9 instead. And I really, really love that lens.
Looking forward to see more pictures from you.

Hey and crosspost your Jupiter pictures on the Soviet Lens Club.

From my copy of jupiter9 -I just love the rendition. I agree with QC issues - I earlier had a newer copy but then I got the older version and it's way sharper than the newer one.

Looks very good indeed!
Is yours silver or black?

I've been thinking of starting a silver lens collection(just for fun) and perhaps dedicating a silver K-5 for manual shooting

One can dream right

Mine is an older black version. Don't have any silver yet.

Let's say you're right, but why does it only happen for this model then?
