DA*50-135 @ f2.8, looks pretty sharp on close ups. On the original you can even see the strands that dont have water on them. You can download the full sized original from here

Yeah, I agree the DA* is a good "spider" capturing lens.

On the original, you can clearly see the spider web - not so clear in the reduced resolution:

Hi Christine,
I'm just home to see a Polo game and did some testing. Just not very well, since I also made choices about interesting pictures but there is some at f2.8 and f3.2 and 135mm and 123mm.

To be honest my FA*85mm is sharper at f2.0 then the DA* is at f3.2
