Sigma 70-200 2.8 & Teleconverter Trouble

Hi All.
I have a sigma 70-200 2.8 macro and a Sigma APO Teleconverter 2x EX DG. When I put the lens and tele together my kx goes nuts. Nothing works. Af won't work and the light meter jumps all over, I cant control it. Any one know what the trouble might be. I know this tele won't work on pentax lenses.
Thanks for any help.

You cant use Sigma's TC on any lens with a in-lens motor, even their own. AFAIK, all macro versions had HSM. Check the compatibility charts.

Sigma TC's have been known to have a lot of incompatibility issues. but anyways, I would suggest doing the following:

first, install the TC on your camera. makes sure that the AF screwdrive motor sits on the screwdrive slot of the TC, otherwise the TC would go crazy. this means the AF switch/lever should be turned on by now. then install the lens on the TC which is already attached to the camera. make sure that the lens is installed properly, turn and tighten. you should hear a click on both the locking mechanism and the screwdrive mechanism should be sitting and locked properly on both lens and TC. then try turning the MF ring (do not force) just to make sure that the focusing mechanism is locked on. turn on your camera and start shooting. hope this works. if it still doesn't work, I guess you have to return the TC or sell it.

Thanks for the help. I looked at sigmas compatibility chart and they did list a 70-200 must be a different model. Pentaxor did like you said, and got the same results. I could live with no AF bit the light meter I need. Is the a TC that will work with this lens? If not then I will be looking into a new long lens.
Again thanks for the help.

The Sigm TC's won't work with the Sigma 70-200 HSM or any other Sigma telezoom with HSM (eg 120-400 & 150-500). You may try to find the Kenko Pz-AF 1.5 TC, that one will workwith the Sigma HSM.
