Finally got my Pentax 50-135

Just got my 50-135 ten minutes ago...Woah is it quiet. I mean almost totally silent. Very light and the resolution is incredible. Well I guess now that I have it, I will have to find the occasion to use it.

I didn't want to cut in to the people who really needed the lens so I told Pentax that I can wait to get my hands on it...

Here is a sample shot at 640 iso at 1/15th of a second at f2.8...I am awestruck..

Everything that's been posted from this lens makes it hard to justify owning primes in the same range. Congrats on the new lens Ben. Looking forward to some more shots from it.

Exactly my dilemma! Going to be difficult getting rid of the K135/2.5 lens.

Yes, that'll be the next zoom lens I get to compliment my Pentax 16-45mm. I'll be still collecting the A series primes though for the low light infinity focus stuff as I have the A28 f2 and an A50 f1.7. The 50-135 looks to be the perfect wedding lens even for the wet weddings, lol. Looking forward to my K10D arriving in the next few days. Nice picture.

Just so I have this right...

Because you have been a photographer for 27 years, you can pass judgment on the resolution of a lens within 10 minutes of obtaining it?

The lens might well have incredible resolution, but you would have to fire off a series of shots, then examine them REAL QUICKLY to come to this conclusion within ten minutes.

Therein lies my skepticism...

Methinks your being awestruck was pre-determined.

As to your first question, the answer is "YES"..

The above photo was shot within that time frame and yes I did shoot off at least fifty images in about ten minutes or so, put them in to Bridge and had a good look at them....

In fact at my last shoot I shot over 500 images in about that time frame

Well I just ordered this lens myself from Amazon 2 days ago. I hope its ok. I kind of ignored the PhotoZone.de review, as it wasn't very complimentary. At the end I know that frankly, any of those flaws won't show up in print. However, it is nice to pixel peep

Are there any other reviews of this lens on the net?
Will my K100D work fine with it or do I need a firmware upgrade?
