Proof that crappy lens + good light = good photos

I've been pretty dismissive of the $40 (new) Promaster 100-300mm f/5-6.3 I bought a couple of months back. On a whim I took it out the other afternoon, and I must say I was pleasantly surprised with the results I got. This shot was taken wide open @ ISO 400:

I guess pretty much any lens can give a decent result in the right light, with the right composition, eh? Oh, and a little RAW adjustment, a little Levels, a little unsharp mask...

I know this isn't in the "Post Your Photos" forum, but who else has good pictures from crappy lenses to share?

That is good Finn

I spent a couple of hours today, deleting several crappy photos taken with a good lens

I really should delete what I don't like right away

Finn, you and Mike once again prove it's not Da camera and not Da lens. Keep posting so that I can never forget my crappy photos are not because of the equipment.

regards,

Ken

Good stuff. Makes the $40 seem a bit more well-spent. This is a good idea, this post your excellent photos from supposedly crappy lenses.
