Thanks for posting those samples, the 60-250 actually didn't extend as much as what I thought (not that's it's small though).
You're welcome. While the 60-250 does extend, it doesn't change the overall balance of the lens too much. So while all things equal I would prefer it didn't extend while zooming, it's not a huge issue in terms of handling. That said, because it's not an internal zoom, the zoom ring isn't nearly as smooth and fluid as the zoom ring of the DA*50-135.

Is anyone else "turned on" by all those lens shots, or its just me?

That is zoom lens porn and should be tagged NSFW. I'm at work at the moment & if my boss saw me looking at that he'd go ballistic.
Oh ... sh.. here he comes... quick flip back to AutoCAD

Here, in case you need another AutoCAD break
(FWIW, they're not both mine, one was bought for a friend)

I have both. I originally owned the 55-300 and really like it a lot but wanted something a little faster and sharper. The 60-250 has replaced my 50-135 very nicely and also replaces my DA*300 for travel when I want the best IQ and am not concerned about weight. The 16-50 and the 60-250 make for a nice two lens travel kit.
I kept the 55-300 to pair with the 18-135 I just bought for a lighter kit. The current pricing on the 60-250 is pretty high. I would have to wait to find one used if I were buying today. Hopefully the prices will come back down eventually and the DA* lenses will be back to pre earthquake levels.

I'm having trouble trying to deceide between the DA 55-300 or the DA* 60-250.
Is it really worth the money to go for the 60-250? I'm wanting to get a longer zoom than the DA 18-135.

Thanks.
I used to have the DA 55-300mm and liked it. It is quite good optically in good light. I sold it after getting a DA* 300mm and somewhat regret it but don't like zooms that much as a rule. However, the 60-250/4 might be the exception. That said, there isn't a better non DA* zoom currently in the Pentax line-up than the 55-300mm.

You're welcome, and let me know if you have any other questions or need any other specific advice about the lenses.

Ironically, the 18-135 you sent is going to the same guy who I bought the duplicate DA*60-250 for in the picture above

Looks like they're out again. Glad you were able to get one before they disappeared

I've rented the 60-250 and it was impressive. It's also HEAVY. With the K-10D and 60-250 that's 5 lbs of camera and lens to lug around and hold up. It performed really well hand-held, though.

I'm going to buy a 55-300. I'll rent the 60-250 again sometime when I go to an airshow or something.
