What's this stuff in my lens?

Howdy all.

I'm getting ready to sell some lenses & stuff that I don't use, and upon close scrutiny of one of them I noticed some residue of some sort behind the front element in one of my lenses. It doesn't look like any photos of fungus I've seen, and it doesn't affect image quality. Here's the photo:

It's not as pronounced as it looks in the photo. I enhanced the pic to better show the detail of the stuff. Perhaps it was caused by condensation at one time or another?

Cheers,
Bobbo :-)

That is probably exactly what it is.

Over time and with more condensation this will develop into fog.

As long as there's no more condensation though it should be ok. Is it pointless to try and sell it? Image quality is still fine.

What is the lens? Have you tried unscrewing the front element? I got a (real cheap!) Tamron 70-300 lately that had water spots inside the objective. It easily unscrewed and was a cinch to wipe clean.

It's a Samyang 100-500mm f:5.6-7.1 zoom. Haven't tried unscrewing the front element, since I don't have a lens wrench.

Just use a fork with the outer prongs bent apart to fit, and the middle prongs bent out of the way.
