Good luck and let us see the results. I never regretted getting my FA Ltds and if you don't like them, there is a waiting list of people who will buy them off you! I know what you mesn. I think sometimes people get too fixed on focal length rather than lens character. I have the 50/1.2K and the 50/1.2A in silver. Both of those are indentical. The 50/1.4's in all their guisesdon't have the same 3D modelling effect. The 50/1.7's and 50/1.8's are perhaps sharper but lack some of the character. However, although there are differences, there is also a very strong family resemblance.
