Pentax 70mm f2.4

After much debating between the 70mm and 77mm , ended up buying the 70mm as the difference in the uk is around 350. Took the 1st pic with my k-5 and well impressed with the image from 70mm and love the bokeh. Not missing my d700

What a nice picture. Yes me too think the bokeh is outstanding. Just got myself one of this lovely lenses. No i'm going for the DA40, some serious LBA i think.

I've been comparing photozone lens tests and have come to the conclusion that the DA40 and DA 70 are tops in across the frame image quality - as well as being very compact. They are my most likely next buys.

DA 70 is a fantastic lens. My fav DA ltd. I constantly consider dumping the FA 77 for it.

Very nice picture! The DA70 is an outstanding lens even from wide open.

And as you can see, the DA70 is easy to get very very good looking photos with, right out of the box. No temperamental diva this.

thanks guys and yes it's a fab lens. Also have a 43mm 1.9 that i am using for general walk around which also is a fantastic lens but the the 70mm does seem sharper at wide open compared to the 43mm and renders the oof area a bit better . The 43mm does seem to feel a bit more robust though and heavier with a more nicer feel on the focus ring. The only disadvantage with the 70mm is the close focus distance which isn't that closeGoing to sharm el sheikh in 4 weeks so will give them both a good bashing.
heres another with the 70mm a bit boring but oof area again looks fab

Great first shot. I have always liked this lens, just feel that it gives nice sharp, contrasty photos with beautiful out of focus rendering as well.

photozone is a good place to start but they don't know there arse from a hot rock when it comes to Pentax nor do they particularly like Pentax. If you do away with their price bitching on the FA 77 and look at the numbers and take into account he forced the FA to flare and never did that to the 70, the 77 actually looks very good on the numbers and the CA numbers are actually better with the 77. If the Voightlander 75 had those numbers, he would be giving it a thumbs up and praising it having af for the extra cost not to mention the 1.8 maximum aperture.

The DA 70 is a very good lens. The DA 40 is good lens, but he build and affordability pushes it over the top. That said, other than size, the DA 35 ltd shakes it out for pocket change.

On photozone - I pay attention only to the numbers, and draw my own conclusions, so we pretty much agree. I do not see why the DA35 is vastly superior to the DA40, though, except in close-up work. And though the FA77 is a fine lens, the DA70 has better IQ at the margins, so it depends on priorities.
