test targets

Found this link and thought it was interesting:
ISO 12233 Test Chart

I've just laminated a target I printed out on 8 sheets of A4 to be able to see the maximum resolution on the chart clearly. I think it means shooting from about 16x focal length for full frame.

Will be interesting to see whether I can pick up the 80lp/mm which the 2000/24 for full frame corresponds to. For digital APS-C this would be 120lp/mm: a pretty hard test of any body/lens combo.

something lost in translation there, I think, but I have just found that you can buy a 36" wide target from Edmund optics which looks like its good value:

Wouldn't it be more to the point and go out and take pictures? Then you can see how your equipment performs in the filed with subjects of relevance.
I've never seen a picture of a test chart that has moved me to tears.

Maybe I'm an unemotional bastard, but I haven't seen a regular photo that's done that either.

Just given that I am looking to test resolution, and quantify it, this chart is helpful and I thought it would help others. I'm not taking photos of charts to move me to tears, but I do like the idea of blowing other exposures up to 11x16, so I am trying to work out developer/film/lens combo works best in order to make that a possibility. All in the pursuit of quality.
