Refining my prime kit

Thanks to Gruoso I'm one step closer to having the ideal prime kit for me. The A200 f4 I bought from him arrived this morning in great shape.

The slingshot 100AW bag is a good size for me. It holds 3 lenses plus one on the K10D nicely. After many trials of different lenses I've settled on this combo:
M 28 f3.5
FA 43 f1.9
M 100 f2.8
A 200 f4

The whole kit is not to heavy and gives me the range that seems to work best for me. If I could find a 1.4 or 1.7 teleconverter that is high quality and didn't cost a lot I'd add that to the kit. My zoom kit is nice for event shooting, A35-105 and A70-210 but will get a Tamron/Pentax 18-250 when the price drops.

So what am I going to do with the other 8 lenses I have? Why keep them of course for special situations or until after the new bodies come out in January and prices on used glass goes even higher. I might even add a wide angle like the Zinitar.

Being able to collect old glass like this at a reasonable price is just one more thing that makes this such a great hobby.

Regards,

Ken

Hi Ken

I have got a similar manual focus kit to yours (I am still building my AF kit). For my MF kit (ie lenses I use more often), I have:
M28/3.5
M50/1.7
M100/2.8

I have got M200/4 but I don't use it that much due to my shooting style. I also got 3 K lenses, K55/1.8, K85/1.8 and K135/2.5. Those are more specialised lenses. I use K55 and K85 mainly for portaits.

For my AF kit, I have only managed to find FA28, FA50 and FA135. I am still looking for a lens between FA50 and FA135.

cheers
Kenny

Glad to be of help. Since my girlfriend was complaining because I dont exercise enough, I have myself a Zeiss Sonnar 200 f2.8 (M42 screw) that double in weight the pentax A plus a 1.7x teleconverter. Originally, I was going after a Flektagon 20 f4 but the sonnar just crossed in my way. The funny thing is that I was trying to keep my equipment on a budget so I guess that I will have to start thinking on donating organs and sell all the extra stuff that I dont use.

My optimal prime kit will be
FA 50 1.7 or A 50 1.7 (I cannot keep them all)
SMC Takumar 50 f4 macro
Zeiss Sonnar 200 f2.8+ TC (I cant believe I will have them)
Zeiss Flektagon 20 f4 multicoated (to have this one multicoated is almost science-fiction)

I am also keeping
Kit lens (for sentimental reasons)
Tamron 18-250 (for traveling)

With this equipment and considering that I am not that much into sports-birding I think that I am served for quite a long time.

The funny thing is that I am having it all for the same price of a single L-lens from canon.
