43mm... sell my 50mm and 35mm for a 31mm?

Lots of focal lengths in the title...but it says it all.

My latest lens acquisition was the 43mm, which I absolutely love. When I want a prime on my camera, I always think of the 43mm. So the FA 50mm and FA 35mm aren't feeling any love. Should I sell them both and get the FA 31mm?

I feel 31 & 43 are a little too close in practice. Maybe DA21?

I guess if you like the 43mm, you should definitely sell the 50mm, but if you aren't using the 35mm anymore...would you use the 31mm? And if you do use the 31mm, would you use the 43mm still?

I will be following this thread closely to hear from owners of both the 31 & 43.

Currently i have the 15/43/77. 77 is too tight for majority of my use and there are times where i wish the 43 is a little wide.

I have the FAs and whilst the 31 is close to the 43 in focal lengths, their application can be quite well delineated. I have my 43s for the half-body shots and the 31 for full body work. If you can't find the justification for the 31 yourself in this way, you may need to look for the particular focal length you would rather need.

If you love 43 and think you'd be comfortable with 31mm FOV, then by all means go ahead and sell off 35+50. It'll be worth it. 31 is one of thest lenses you can get!

I have the 43 and the 77.

I have my eye on the 31. I have used a zoom lens to assess 43mm and 31mm and can definately see the value of the wider focal length.

I don't think I'll be happy until I've owned each of the 3 amigos.

I would keep the 50, or consider something equally fast. Sometimes such low-light capability is critical. Mine is my gotta-get-that-crucial-shot lens, my movement-at-twilight lens. It's just a basic tool for various photo work.

I have the 43, 77, 40, & 21 Limiteds. Already possessing a recently acquired (dirt cheap at the $170 I paid) 35 DA AL 2.4, it would be difficult for me to justify such an expensive purchase as the 31 at this time (along with the 15mm, which I also covet), especially as I also have the more than excellent 12-24 DA covering these focal lengths. Additional consideration for my current weakened financial state (just recovered from an expensive bout of LBA) dictates a "one day down the road" policy for these lenses.
But that is my situation..... in your case, I would do as you had originally planned & sell your two unused lenses for the 31. You would also be helping some of us out by allowing us to live vicariously through your purchase..... many thanks in advance!

If you aren't using the 35 and 50, it would be worth selling them, although, I would prefer a combination of the DA* 55 with the FA 31 than the FA 43 with the FA 31. As others have said, the focal lengths are pretty close and you do lose a little bit in speed as well.

The biggest question is one of focal length. Do you like 30-ish mm lenses and would you shoot it enough to justify the outlay of funds? Sounds like LBA is working though and you're best off giving in, since that disease can be paralyzing in the worst of circumstances.

+1 to this
Although I personally prefer 24+55 but if 31 is a must then I'd ideally couple it with A50/1.2 or as 2nd pick DA*55.

Those are 2 completely different focal lengths. For example, I often have a DA 35 ltd on one body and the FA 77mm ltd on a second body. Sometimes I'll even have the or the DA 21mm ltd on a 3rd body. What I'm getting at is that the FA 31 and 77 are very complimentary focal lengths.
