A 15/3.5. how much is it worth?

Kind of short on money recently. So I'm wondering how much I could get for selling one mint/excellent copy (with caps, without original case). It's a SMC-A version so no aspherical element.

I see some listings on Ebay for 2000usd but there no way Pentax users are going to dig that. not without full frame digital.....

Check the COMPLETED LISTINGS on eBay to see what people actually did (and didn't!) pay.
Then check KEH and other major lens dealers. Send them inquiries. See what they'll offer.

for the average shooter, I can't see it being worth even as much as a DA 15 ltd... I mean who would spend more for bigger, no AF, not as well coated, used, no warranty etc.. other than a collector.

AF on wide angle lenses such a 15mm is just a commercial thing. But the 15/3.5 can be used on a film camera... For a minty A, I would say something in the $900-$1300 range on regular auction on ebay

KEH would give you ~$620 so figure at least twice that.

Check out this lens price database for recent selling prices:

http://www.jcolwell.ca/photography/lens$db/index.htm

Prices for the A15/3.5 range from $685 to $1330.00 depending on condition.

For the 'A' version...I'd say $1000 isn't out of the question. I had the Non-A, non-Asp. version I recently traded even up for a 77 limited which I thought was a fair swap.

I thought this was a fantastic lens, almost zero distortion, great color and contrast. A little prone to flare due to it's gigantic front element and lack of coatings. Still...for the collector a must have lens.

In the end, it really comes down to the condition, how fast you want to sell it, and who's looking to buy such a beast at the time you're selling.

I have the Aspheric M42 version....I bought it complete with both caps AND its original takumar case (seems to be rare....can't work out why VERY few have the case). It is in lovely condition, bought it from this forum...paid $1500 delivered to my door......maybe a bit dearer than some, but it's unmarked, and unlike many.....has its case.
Cheers, Pickles.

Thanks for your input guys. I listed it the lens on marketplace for a "modest" tag of $1000
