Worth repairing?

Got this lens as a part of a bargain deal. However, it is "a little bit" damaged, causing the motor zoom to disfunction. Focusing works.

See the images.

My question is simple: will this lens (beyond the damage apparently in good condition: glass=clean, blades smooth) be worth the repair bill, or will it have some parts worth, or can I just throw it away as it is?

I have the 28-80 and 28-105 power zoom lenses,

I got the 28-105 with my PZ-1 and had the same problem, except that I had all the parts. I think you are missing a push button. I used super glue to hold the outer frame for the switch in place (That was almost 10 years ago), and it works fine.

The 28-80, I bought for $10, missing all the switch components. I simply covered the openings through to the lens barrel with tape and filled the entire hole in with black epoxy. Otherwise the scrap lens works great in manual zoom mode. So what if the power zoom functions don't work. My DSLRs dont support them and although pentax promised the K10D would do so, it doesn't so far.

BTW, the only ower zoom function I found of interest was image size tracking, but that is because the PZ-1 could also track focus in auto focus, and image size tracking was of interest in sports, once you framed the shot. It just never caught on, and there were no good sport lenses made with power zoom (i.e. no 70-200 f2.8 power zoom)

buy a new one on eekbay for 30-40bucks. the repair bill will be twice that. on lenses just figure about 75-100usd for a starting place for repair costs. the shop i go to charges $15 to look at it and they are reasonable.

Believe it or not, I just sold the lens. Should be a collector, or something like that. He was willing to pay US$ 7,00 plus shipping. I am quite pleased!

I have the same equipment, and the power zoom works fine with the K 10 D !
Are you sure there is nothing wrong with your gear ?
