Pentax 200 mm

Hello there,
I am absolutely new here and into Pentax as well. Just ordered a K10 at BH (hope it will come to Denmark before Christmas .
I included a kit lens and the 77 mm 1.8 from which I expect some beautiful portrait possibilities.
Now I wonder if this 200 mm might be a reasonable lens to prevent my bank account from going crazy: On a local (Danish) site I can buy a 200 mm F4.0 old lens - guess it is an M or DA lens but cant see on image. Is there anyone that knows this lens and how it goes on the K10? I have attached a photo of this nice-looking old thing.

I am a former Olympus 300 owner (oops) but was absolutely convinced when I saw the new K10 - seems like these Pentax people a more innovative than Canon/Nikon right now.
Anyways I like to share this nice Spermwhale which my 13 year son got bound for the Acores this summer. (E300, 300 mm)

Thanks

Hi Niels,
The lens shown looks like either a K200 f4.0 or a M200 f4.0. It is a pretty decent performer. It is small, light weight, and very hand holdable. They are worth between US$70-90 depending on condition. Prices today may be a bit higher due to the popularity of older Pentax lenses.

Cheers
-Alan

It's not the M lens, I have one. That's probably the K version, larger but also a good performer.

i've got the Mseries. great lens for the $$. i mainly like to use it with ext tubes for a 1:2.5 macro. it gives that ratio with about 60mm of tubes. it's perfect for those larger insects like DFs. focus is what i like as it gives you about 20'' distance.

You almost had a zoo in your dwelling. But your tree frogs would have been great photographic subjects (at least for me)

Roy really has great shots of the wildlives!

this is the K model. nothing wrong with that. the M model is a little smaller but you should like the K just as much. the M model has the descrip of the lens on the outside of the barrel instead of on the front.
