Thank you! You still deserve a HIGH MARK! for simply promoting what they have done (I suspect you are inspired too)

Pentax needs fast-er lenses than they have, but not that fast. f1.2 is adequate. I seldom need faster than f2 anyway and if it is sharp there, I don't really care if my lens opens wider than that. Of course, it seems like all of the DA limiteds that Pentax has been churning out lately have been f2.4 or smaller in aperture.

+1.

While I'm not saying it wouldn't be intriguing, there are plenty of lenses I'd rather see Pentax release long before a < f/1.0 lens.

Of all the things Pentax needs to work on, this sure isn't one of em!

I personally prefer a set of f2 primes which are sharp across the frame wide open. It will be much more useable than faster lenses which are only sharp in the centre. Being smaller and lighter will be a plus too when the bag is loaded.

Not necessary, IMO. There are a lot of other, more practical lenses that need to be implemented or improved before they worry about stuff like this.

An F/1 or F/1.2 would be very high on my list IF it was optimized for sharpness from from wide open to F/4 and did not show significant vignetting wide open. It can be big, heavy, & expensive as long as it is sharp and fast.

But I think Pentax is currently working on a new plastic 37.33mm f/3.5 lens that glows in the dark. It is small and cute and will sell really well in Japan.

I believe it is impossible to go faster than f1.2 on the K mount.

I'd buy a 50mm f/1 lens. Even if it cost $1500. And even if it were the size of CaNikon lenses. I'd buy it. Sure...

True and true, and yet I'd probably buy one anyway

No.
- Would be expensive to develop and I doubt it would sell highly
- AF? I can't imagine an auto focus system being remotely accurate with an f/1 lens at closer distances.
- The current trend seems to be focusing on high sensitivity, so I would imagine not too many people would be interested (except for us freaks here on PF )
- Say it costs something like $1000-1500. Wouldn't the already extremely fast 50/1.2 seem more appealing, costing something like $400-600?
I'm a fan of more faster lenses in general, but I think faster than f/1 is unrealistic

Well, the Canon EF 50mm f/1.0L lens did suffer from slow AF, probably because of the extremely shallow depth of field.
