Punta Cana - What should I bring

I'm headed off to Punta Cana for a week with the family (2 2 1/2 year olds), so we'll probably stay at the resorts most of the time. I figure I may have some morning and evenings to myself, where I can stroll around a little and take pictures.

I'm looking for suggestions on what I should bring. I have:

D7000 with 24-120 f4, 180 2.8 w/ 1.4x TC

K5 with 15, 21, 40,70, 77 ltds and 55 1.4

My initial thoughts was to bring the K5 with the DA Ltds. I have 2 concerns first, I may miss the telephoto lens as I can get 270 4.0 with the TC on the D7000. Second, if we are on the beach, I'm afraid the frequent lens change will get sand in the K5.

Thanks.

Sand is a concern, but if you're careful and not changing lenses in windy conditions then you should be fine with the K-5. But it does sound like you'll be spending some time changing lenses on what is supposed to be a holiday.

Stick with the zooms I'd say.
Most importantly, enjoy the holiday with the family.

Agree on the zooms. If you don't have any walk-about zooms for the K5, I'd suggest either grabbing one or taking the D7000.

Then again - you're going to the D.R. so you will also have to contend with humidity, possible rain, salt water spray, and the slight chance of seagull/pelican rains. I'd say lens WR is also something to consider.

And if you really want to catch some great photos, you might want to check out the real D.R. and not just the sanitized resort version :-)

I think the D7000 and the zoom then the k5 with 15, 55 and maybe the 70 or 77 would cover about everything. Inside the 55 and outside the15.

I would just pair a K5 + 21mm and have the 55mm or 70mm in your bag. it's never good to bring too many gears on a vacation, you'll hardly use all of them.

2 or 3 lens is plenty. =]

Thanks for all the advice. It seems the D7000 with the zooms is the way to go. I have to find a wide angle lens now.
