It would be nice to see a good 135mm from Pentax. I'm shooting an M42 OPTOMAX 135 at the moment with SIXTEEN aperture blades. It is easily one of my favorite lenses, bokeh is amazing! But I personally think the 135 is a focal length that would benefit from some backwards-compatibility, i.e. aperture ring and non-crippled lens for those of us still shooting the first and second gen. of K-mounts as well as our DSLRs.

You know what I'd be more than happy with. A version of this for the K7.

still looking for a Sigma 100-300mm f/4 alternative Cmohr? that 645 150-300mm f/5.6 is actually remarkably good on the 645D from what I have heard, though the lack of tripod collar is an irksome oversight from pentax that prevented me from owning one, on my 645NII prefer the FA*645 300mm f/4 ED [if].

Well if that would be design to fit aps-c then it would be much smaller and I think the 135-400 would match it well.

For new readers it is good to read the first post!
You can select 5 different lenses/choices. Think off what you would want/buy or what would complete the Pentax lens line-up to make it attractive for new users off the Pentax dslr system.

Percentages seem to be holding up

The percentages seem to be fairly steady. The WR 24mm is still the only lens above 25% and the DA*'s 85 f/1.4 and the 135 F/2.0 are still running neck and neck in second place for lenses. I think (I apologize Ron, I haven't been following that closely) that the high quality T/C has pulled ahead of the improved SDM tho. I admit that I was a bit surprised about the popularity of the WR 24mm but considering that there is no WR prime below 55mm maybe that isn't too surprising. I do know that if it ever came avaliable I'd jump on one like a duck on a beetle.

DA 24mm/f2.0 WR 27.31%
DA* 85mm/f1.4 24.54%
DA* 135mm/f2.0 25.00%
DFA* TC 1.4x SDM topquality converter 39.81%
SDM II with faster focussing, new lensversions current DA*. 35.65%

Pretty strong showing for these. Anything over 20% I would say is strong given the number of options.

Well you know how statistics work. Having just some more entry's would be very nice to back-up these consumer demands on Pentax's R&D spendings. At the time 24% votings is the minimum to stand above the bar.

Wow that is a lens I would never buy, but I do see that some people would want it.

I just added a new poll about currently owned lenses that are still in production:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/forums/pentax-slr-lens-discussion/147689-wich-of...camerabag.html

If you find the time to enter the poll that would be very kind. Thanks in advance.

To bad some of the things from the Asahi vault wasn't included in the poll like the M 20/1.4 and M 35/1.4 prototypes. Those could be done up along the lines of the DA* 55mm and rock the house.

Added to the new ideas. Well a DA*30mm/f1.4 was on the lensroadmap once, so maybe some off the development was done allready.

More midrange f/4 zooms (or even f/3.5-4.5) please; my k-x does not need 800+ gram f/2.8 lenses to unbalance it, and me! And the absence of a 24mm prime of any type is nearly unforgivable at this point.

that makes at least 2 of us

in fact if Vanbars had have been open last wekend I probably would have had a D7000 to strap one too. I get a day that I can get there and they don't seem to be open (no one was willing to answer the phone anyway)

Looking at the poll options, there still isn't an equivalent to this in there that excites me although the 135-400/f4-5.6 offering might do the trick if reviews proved excellent (unlike the reviews for the similar Sigma offerings which are variable to say the least). But most importantly, I want something now, not in 2-3 years.

Haha, If the Hens tooth ever shows up, I'd like one. If I don't find a good prime 300 or 400 in the mean time. I actually prefer a prime at these lengths, but the price for the 100-300 seemed better at the time than a prime, and everybody that has one, does say the IQ is quality for sure. ( I think I have found a FA300/4.5 will see what occurs)

The Reason I showed that 150-300 is that its another Pentax Lens that is already out there, and would be a really good usable Focal range for the DSLR, it already exsists and engineering wise and range wise a better crossover design than completely tooling up for the 60-250) . I must admit it did seem odd to me that they made the 60-250 that made redundant the 50-135 range (yes, yes, I know not as fast, I should say the >60-135< part of the 60-250 is redundant) it just seems the 60-250 should have been a chance for a 135-400??? or the like, seeing how there was no other real long zoom lenses offered by Pentax in a * lens with a fast glass, and since they have gone with the SDM system, yet decided to leave us all hanging without a SDM converter to make up for the shortfall in FL. So thats why I'm hesitant about a DA300 as not sure about how it will perform with TC's. as well as not being able to use on the old film body.

I remember with FF that the amateur in general seemed happy with a 300, and now on crop sensors the 300 (450 FF equivilant) is not long enough.
