Question on possible malfunction on my Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 lens

Hi,

I am a beginner and last year I purchased Sigma 17-70mm f2.8-4 lens
for my Pentax Kx.
Recently, I noticed something that I don't remember if I experienced it
before (last time I used the lens was about 4 months ago.)

The issue is that when I pressed the shutter button (either halfway or
all the way) I noticed that the image/view I saw through the viewfinder
was moving quickly either sideways and/or up and down (judder.)
I also heard some noise from inside the lens.
It does not happen all the time.
The same thing also happening if I just moved the zoom ring.
I tried turning off the OS on the lens and the camera
but the same thing still happened.

It did not behave that way when I used the kit lens.
I have not tried it yet if it behaves the same way in Live Mode.

Is there something wrong with the lens?
As far as I can see it has not affect the picture quality
(although I have not tried it with really slow shutter speed.)
Any additional test I can perform?

Thanks.

What you see through the viewfinder is not affected by what's happening with your lens mechanism during an exposure.

If it's not affecting your results, it's unlikely a cause for concern.
Keep shooting and observing your gear.

I am having same Sigma lens as you and cannot report any troubles.

I am not so fast to see moving view in viewfinder nor to hear the sound.
Anyway, if you are really concerned just contact sigma support to check and repair.

I have that lens though it's currently on loan to my daughter. I have not experienced what you describe. My guess is something is wrong.
