I have a 55-300 and recently bought a Hoya made by Tokina, Polarizer. No problems. A buddy has a Tiffen Polarizer for his 55-300...no problems.

All I know is, this el cheapo from Ritz is a piece of junk. Take it off, and my 300mm shots are crisp. Put it on, and they look hideous. It's got to be optically defective somehow.

it's not a defect, it's just poor optic glass in front that you put on.

Be more specific. The 55-300mm gets pretty good reviews for it's price range. You are saying it's a lousy zoom?

I totally read that wrong! I think it's a great lens for the money.

I shouldn't be wasting money on cheap filters.
