any body ever user one of those wide angle things that screw to the front of your lens? Is it any good? Does it degrade the pics? Thanks

I bought one for my P&S camera, (K*dak 7590) which has a 38-380 effective lens. Adaptor is .5X therefore gave an effective 18-190 mm range.

I have tried it once or twice on mt 28-105 FA and found it only really works at all at the shortest focal lengths, as the geometry is really not meant for an SLR.

You suffer from substantial barrel distortion. It might be interesting to try on mt Tamron 24mm f2.5

I've used one on my kit lens (18-55) and I am neutral about it.

Did it have negative aspects? NO

Did it add to my photo experience? NO

The only real plus is my wide-angle adapter has the macro lens screwed onto its base. THAT makes some interesting shots.
